The hype and foresight of this makes its victory boring, but I&#8217;m still excited to see it.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Grand Prix<span style=\"font-style: italic;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Prediction <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" ><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">&#8211; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" >Wild Grass<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> (Resnais)<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 153, 0);\">Winner &#8211;<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">A Prophet <\/span>(Audiard)<\/p>\n<p>The Audiard sounds like by-the-numbers blah-ness, a safely, well-made movie.  Guess I&#8217;ll have to see it, now.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Jury Prize <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" ><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Prediction <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" ><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">&#8211; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" >The White Ribbon<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> (Haneke)<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 153, 0);\">Winner &#8211;<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Fish Tank <\/span>(Arnold)<br \/><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 153, 0);\">Winner &#8211; <span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Thirst<\/span> (Park)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I have my own reservations about what I&#8217;m expecting from <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Fish Tank, <\/span>but Chan-wook Park has no business winning an award in this, or any major festival.  Tarantino inexplicably placed <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Old Boy<\/span> higher than <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Tropical Malady<\/span> in 2004, and again his film is winning an award that many other films surely deserved more.  Fanboys rejoice.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Best Director <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" >The Time That Remains<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> (Suleiman)<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 153, 0);\">Winner &#8211;<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Kinatay<\/span> (Mendoza)<\/p>\n<p>Shocker, I&#8217;m mixed about <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Serbis<\/span>, but this one did catch my eye, and despite mixed reviews, was deemed the first &#8216;interesting&#8217; film in the festival when it screened. I thought nobody liked this.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Best Actor <\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Prediction <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" ><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">&#8211; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Tahar Rahim <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" >(The Prophet)<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 153, 0);\">Winner &#8211;<\/span> <\/span>Christoph Waltz (<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Inglourious Basterds<\/span>)<\/p>\n<p>Okay.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Best Actress <\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br   \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Prediction <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" ><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">&#8211; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Katie Jarvis (<\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" >Fish Tank)<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 153, 0);\">Winner &#8211;<\/span> <\/span>Charlotte Gainsbourg (<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Antichrist)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Antichrist<\/span> had to win something other than the palm, I&#8217;m glad they honored Gainsbourg, who, from the sounds of it, gives the quintessential von Trier performance.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Camera d&#8217;Or<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Prediction <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" ><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">&#8211; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" >Huacho <\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">(Almendras)<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 153, 0);\"><br \/>Winner &#8211;<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Samson and Delilah<\/span> (Thornton)<\/p>\n<p>I should have guessed this one.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:100%;\" >Un Certain Regard Prize<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Prediction <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" ><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">&#8211; <\/span>Dogtooth<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> (Lanthimos)<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 153, 0);\">Winner &#8211;<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic;font-size:100%;\" >Dogtooth<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> (Lanthimos)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This sounds awesome. Can&#8217;t wait for it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Lifetime Achievement<\/span> &#8211; Alain Renais<\/p>\n<p>Seems like a cop out award.
