Top 10 Films of 1970

This is a dynamic list, so it’ll be updated each time I see a film which had its world premiere in 1970 that is better than at least one of the films already on the list.

*While I have seen more than ten films from this year, I’m only including titles that I actively like (6.0+).

  1. Le Cercle Rouge (Jean-Pierre Melville)
  2. Donkey Skin (Jacques Demy)
  3. The Hart of London (Jack Chambers)
  4. Even Dwarfs Started Small (Werner Herzog)
  5. Brewster McCloud (Robert Altman)
  6. Hope (Yilmaz Güney)
  7. The Conformist (Bernardo Bertolucci)
  8. Husbands (John Cassavetes)
