Top 10 Films of 1961

This is a dynamic list, so it’ll be updated each time I see a film which had its world premiere in 1961 that is better than at least one of the films already on the list.

*While I have seen more than ten films from this year, I’m only including titles that I actively like (6.0+).

  1. Il Posto (Ermanno Olmi)
  2. Last Year at Marienbad (Alain Resnais)
  3. Lola (Jacques Demy)
  4. A Woman is a Woman (Jean-Luc Godard)
  5. The Innocents (Jack Clayton)
  6. Too Late Blues (John Cassavetes)
  7. Chronicle of a Summer (Edgar Morin & Jean Rouch)
