Top Films from Pre-1920s

This is a dynamic list, so it’ll be updated each time I see a film which had its world premiere before 1920 that is better than at least one of the films already on the list.

*While I have seen more than ten films from this period, I’m only including titles that I actively like (6.0+).

  1. The Doll (1919, Ernst Lubitsch)
  2. Les Vampires (1915, Louis Feuillade)
  3. The Dying Swan (1917, Yevgeni Bauer)
  4. Twilight of a Woman’s Soul (1913, Yevgeni Bauer)
  5. The Poor Little Rich Girl (1917, Maurice Tourneur)
